Concept TeamCab: Magirus presents a new approach to crew cabins at Interschutz 2026
Ulm, Germany- 08 June 2026
- New material concept designed to encourage open dialogue with firefighters and decision-makers
- Walk-in cabin module showcased at Interschutz 2026
- Wood composite approach opens up new perspectives in crew cabin design
- Focus on repairability, durability and regional availability
With the “Concept TeamCab”, Magirus presents a new approach to future crew cabins in firefighting vehicles. At the Interschutz 2026 trade fair in Hanover, Germany, the company showcased a walk-in cabin module that is deliberately not intended as a production-ready product, but rather as a starting point for open discussions with firefighters and decision-makers about future materials, requirements and possible developments in vehicle design. In doing so, Magirus addresses topics such as repairability, material availability, individual manufacturing options and durable design concepts.
Material concept with a focus on durability
The showcased wood composite concept, based on beech wood with an oak finish, highlights possible new approaches to alternative materials in crew cabin design. Particular attention was given to robustness, processability and long-term maintainability. Key characteristics of the material concept include durable surfaces, flexible manufacturing options as well as repairability and recyclability. At the same time, reliable regional material availability and longevity play an important role.
The load-bearing structure of the cabin remains unchanged and continues to meet established safety requirements such as ECE R29. In addition, flame-retardant stains and coatings are applied. Sealed surfaces provide lasting protection against moisture, while the selected coatings are also resistant to acids and alkalis.
Dialogue instead of ready-made answers
The Concept TeamCab is not intended as a finished solution, but as an invitation to engage in an open discussion about future requirements for crew cabins and emergency response vehicles.
“For us, innovation also means openly discussing new ideas and evaluating potential approaches together with end users at an early stage,” says Fatmir Veselaj, CEO of the Magirus Group. The objective is to actively introduce new concepts and encourage an open exchange with firefighters and decision-makers about future requirements.
Throughout Interschutz 2026, numerous visitors took the opportunity to explore the walk-in module and share their views on future crew cabins. The feedback and insights gathered will be taken into account when evaluating potential future approaches.
