Magirus Strategically Realigns its Firefighting Vehicle Portfolios

Hanover / Ulm, Germany - 05 June 2026

  • CORE and FLEX will not be continued in their current form
  • Existing customer projects will continue to be supported reliably
  • Magirus is working on the next generation of firefighting vehicles
  • Continued focus on customer proximity, economic efficiency and high-quality solutions
  • Concept TeamCab at Interschutz 2026 provides new impulses for future firefighting vehicles

Magirus is strategically realigning its firefighting vehicle portfolio and will not continue the CORE and FLEX body concepts introduced in 2024 in their current form. The decision is part of the company's ongoing transformation programme, aimed at further strengthening quality, economic performance and long-term competitiveness. As part of its strategic development, Magirus is also working intensively on a comprehensive product, manufacturing and site strategy for its firefighting vehicle business.

Focus on Economic Efficiency and Long-Term Customer Value

Since the introduction of CORE and FLEX, the underlying concepts have been extensively evaluated and discussed with fire services, customers, partners and end users. This process has shown that key assumptions regarding scaling effects, economic viability and practical implementation could not be realised under real market conditions to the extent originally anticipated.

We have deliberately and critically reassessed our firefighting vehicle concepts. The expected cost benefits could not have been achieved to the extent originally assumed when taking all relevant factors into account,” explains Fatmir Veselaj, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Magirus.

At the same time, it became clear that the actual benefit of certain development approaches was limited for many fire services. “Our ambition remains unchanged: to offer firefighting vehicles that are economically sound, affordable over the long term and uncompromising in quality,” Veselaj adds.

Customer Projects Will Continue Individually

Existing customer projects will continue to be reviewed individually and progressed in close coordination with the respective fire services and partners. Magirus remains in direct dialogue with affected customers to ensure reliable and sustainable solutions.

At the heart of Magirus’ future firefighting vehicle strategy are new approaches for the next generation of vehicles. These approaches are intended to combine proven Magirus solutions with greater process and manufacturing efficiency while maintaining the flexibility required for different operational requirements.

The requirements of modern fire services continue to demand a high degree of flexibility. Our task is to reflect the individuality of customer needs much more efficiently within our own processes. This is currently one of our highest priorities,” says Thorsten Marquardt, Head of Global Sales at Magirus.

Concept TeamCab Demonstrates New Ways of Thinking

At the same time, Magirus is already working on future-oriented concepts in the vehicle sector. With the Concept TeamCab presented at Interschutz 2026, the company offers a glimpse into innovative possibilities for future crew cab designs. The walk-in concept module on display in Hanover, Germany, features an innovative wood-composite approach and is intended to encourage open dialogue with fire services, experts and decision-makers on materials, weight reduction, repairability, sustainability and future requirements in firefighting vehicle construction.

We will work even more closely with end users in future developments. That is why we see the Concept TeamCab as an open concept and a platform for dialogue rather than a finished production product. Direct exchange with fire services and emergency responders plays a central role in our future development activities,” explains Andreas Petrik, Site Manager in Premstätten (Austria) at Magirus.

Magirus will introduce its future firefighting vehicle strategy step by step. Visitors to Interschutz 2026 can gain initial insights into potential future solution approaches at the Magirus Pavillon 32.
